Kit Danes

There is very little known about reclusive author Kit Danes the famed creator of the Charley Dove books we all remember Charley's adventures such as 'The Night of Terrors' or 'The Golden Cross' or the legendary 'Times Echo'

We are lucky enough to have been granted access to a small sample of Charley's latest adventure: Charley Dove and The Shattered Heart

'From the Depths'

'… Charley stood unsteady on the rocky surface of the cave. The cold damp air which enclosed seemed to be coming from the very itself, as if it was the breath of the very rocks of breath of creatures millions of years old waiting patiently for reasons beyond the understanding of this young mind.

From deep within the caves solid blackness something glittered, impossible beams of light where shooting and reflecting off the surface of this unground world.

What could it be? Flash of a million possibilities rushed across Charley's mind, possibilities which seem to solidify into one reality as the thing encroached on the pale white beam of Charley's torch.

A giant walking crystal! It filled the cave, it was the cave all Charley could do was stare at his own face aghast, as it was shattered within multiple reflections of the angles of this beast of diamond. Charley could feel icy cold shards enclose him as he tried to resist the impossible solid grip of the creatures deep cold smooth embrace as the glass blackness of unconsciousness took him.'

Statement

The following is a statement regarding the future of the ARSEO.

Over the past three years I have attempted to create art which hopefully explored how ideas, beliefs (no matter how ludicrous) are shaped and disseminated through popular culture.

Over this brief period of existence it has become apparent that the methodologies selected to explore these themes where somehow flawed. Rather than creating a platform which would promote discussion about how these ideas come about (I also wanted it to reflect our relationships with art in general) it seemed to produce a closed system thereby making me another crackpot theorist rather than an explorer of crackpot theories. I even begin to question if it's even regarded as art.

One thing that is at fault is my inability to develop the ARSEO concept further finding it difficult to engage the work I create in some kind of critical discourse (whatever that means). Also there are artists who explore concepts similar to mine* but more thoroughly, better and in a more expectable format (?) In part these artists have led to this revaluation and to the conclusion that I cannot carry on the ARSEO concept any further at the present time. (Though this may just be a hiatus)

We live in uncertain times, I still want to create in one form or another but for now the dream is interrupted.

I am walking across the room, and I look up and because its dark, I can see the stars. The stars are old so old in fact they form the signs of the Zodiac, like the Greeks saw.

I am sat in a dark room, everything's old but not old. I am not alone from somewhere four men appear. They wear sombre clothes there not looking at me there facing each other and are focusing on somewhere else, from above I see they are holding a large box.

Suddenly I am aware of a presence near me, I am not threatened, the presence begins to talk to me, I can't quite see their face, this presence is dressed like the others but is different. He is asking me questions, questions about my life, my regrets my achievements, I find it all a bit strange but I answer. I must have been talking for a while, though I can't understand what I am saying, I notice that the box the others are holding is big enough for a body, big enough for me.

I become nervous, I try to voice my concerns but my lips are stiff, the presence from beside me is now on the other side of the room he says 'not yet'.

I am outside in a garden, surrounded by four high walls, I am the only one here but I feel the presence of others, there above me somehow. There's a flash of a light, then another, then another, they build and build, till there's thousands of them. I try to block them out by covering my face with my hands but the light still gets through, I turn around and there still there and that's where the dream ends.

 

The Overlap Project

Within the vaults of the ARSEO archive there is a series of audio cassettes. Each these cassettes contain recordings of an unnamed female ARSEO operative recounting in an altered state (either dreaming or other trance like state) a number of locations and actions. Often the records contain overt references to places which exist within the 'real world' and the operative details items and actions which she performed within the dreamstate. A number of the cassettes are marked with dates, dates which are fast approaching.

The information recorded on these cassettes would suggest the probability of some form of precognitive power on the part of the unknown female ARSEO operative. In order to validate this it has been proposed that the ARSEO should on the date provided by the cassettes and with the descriptions held within them, that they should set up the conditions to investigate the precognitive power of these records. In order to ensure an unbiased appraisal of the tapes validity it is considered that a neutral subject should be used.

The White Arrow Project

In its investigations into extraordinary people and there extraordinary ideas the ARSEO have discovered such a unique individual named Ann Walker. Who has contact with a American Indian spirit guide called 'White Arrow' to undertake a daily ritual. During these sessions White Arrow relived to Walker that he was in fact an extra-terrestrial from 'Planet Heaven' and was communicating to Walker the true condition of Planet Earth and to predict an impending catastrophe. All the information given by White Arrow was presented, by Walker, through a series of drawings which seem to echo the methods of Automatic Writing.

In 2004 Ann Walker passed away, has she left a gap? Are White Arrows messages going unheard? Well we here at the ARSEO have decided to take up Walker's 'work' but this time allow the public to access the opportunity to have this interstellar communication and help in the process of the passing on continuing of White Arrow's Mission. We here at the ARSEO will attempt to recreate the conditions of Walkers original communications the only difference would be that we would request the individual taking part to use both their left and right hand thereby engaging both the left and right hemispheres of the brain which, we hope, will allow any communication to flow through the brain without conscience effect.

The drawings created by the individuals with be collected by an ARSEO operative and deciphered by our top men.

A subject (subject A) is invited to recall a place or journey which they believe exists in an alternative mental state (dream).

This recollection is recorded, the recollection is then relied to another subject (subject B), and the information should be transmitted via some form of electronic device or verbally by an ARSEO operative.

While Subject B listens to Subject A s 'dream journey' Subject B must be encouraged to follow the description of said journey as much as physically possible.

This is an attempt to consolidate two disparate mental states.

 

The Box

The idea goes a little like this:

You are invited to a place, in this place there is a box, under your own free will you enter the box.

After a few moments you exit the box, you and the box are not in the same place you entered the box.

You leave the second place, you look for the 'point of departure', nor is it at the second place.

The Open Space Project

By creating a set of conditions, based upon the psychgeographic properties of a certain location could we then control the motions of anybody with that location? Investigation is needed.

ARSEO Project #7721: The Whispers into the Other Project

Within every space within every location holds the memory of a 1000 years, locked within the stone and earth there lays the histories, the very emotions, of the people which inhabited that space. What if there was a way of tapping into that history, well that's what we here at the Artistic Research and Special Experiments Organsation are currently working toward a device which could allow us access to this invisible treasure trove of memory.

This is easier than one might think; as they say to listen one must hear. Using certain Psychogeographic methods, these methods having been developed by the author Arthur Machen while living in Caerleon, South Wales. Within this exhibition space we have located various psychogeographic 'hotspots' which will allow you access to the rich vein of psychohistory inherent within this location.

These PSYG's are indicated by an ear symbol please take time and locate them and start you journey into a wider world!

This is one of many projects of the Artistic Research and Special Experimentation Organsation, an organisation set up to investigate paranormal and fringe ideas ranging from UFO's to Ghosts. These investigations are presented within a artistic context in order to create an atmosphere in which the investigations of the A.R.S.E.O can be democratised, providing the audience the opportunity to add to and complete the work of the A.R.S.E.O and take their first steps into a unseen world.

The I Die You Die Project

What is the Afterlife? Is there an Afterlife? These are the questions which have troubled Mankind throughtout the ages and one which has been related to some form of religious belief in order to access said Afterlife.
What if there was a way of determining a presence of an Afterlife? The current difficulties in contacting the unliving would seem to close that avenue of exploration.

But what of NDE's or Near Death Experience? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_death_experience ) surely these experiences point to evidence of an Afterlife, but they are conjecture and no 'real' evidence sruvives beyond the individuals experience. So a method of recording said experience must be developed this is what we here at ARSEO are working on.

We are currently developing a version of the 'God Helmet' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Helmet) which would be able to record the thoughts of an individual and then transfer these patterns into a visual form, much like a television broadcast. In order to enter a state of neardeath the ARSEO operative would be required to ingest a substance which will ensure the creation of such a state (the substance has yet to be identified)

The final part of this experiment is that it should be presented live, in fornt of an audience, possibly forming part of a lecture. This is so they can experience the NDE and see the validity of the events unfolding in front of them.

Untitles ARSEO Project #7216 'Remote Control' Project

Previously here at the ARSEO we have attempted to explore the rich seam of 'Remote Viewing' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_viewing) in The Sheep/Goat Effect Project This was only an initial part of our investigations into this phenomena we now wish to develop this ability to a force which could guide or control individuals.

For this it would require an ARSEO operative to be located in one location and be given a 'target'. For the initial experiments this would take the form of a brightly coloured object until the operative has gained enough skill to locate any object mentally.

This experiment would require a second operative or volunteer who'll would be in another location, where the object would be, the 'interior' ARSEO op while then be requested to guide the 'exterior' op/vol to the object.

The The Message Project: Some Notes Towards Apocalypse

In the course of our investigations into the unknown here at the ARSEO we often come across many interesting people and concepts. We present to you one such example the tale of Walter Drake and his prediction of an apocalyptic event to takes place some time between 2015/2016After coming in possession of various artefact's belong to Walter Drake including diaries, notebooks and sketches we were able to begin to put together a picture of his apocalypse narrative detailing a major event to take place four years hence. Drake claims to have received information through his television set on the night of the 7th February 1979, this information was relayed to him from what he called 'Angels'. After this it is believed that Drake attempted to set up a 'Church of Eve' in 1980, little information about this Church or even Drake himself is to be found.

But what of the message itself? What is the information to be passed on from Drake's Angels? Well by looking through the information left by Drake the apocalypse narrative begins in the year 2000 when Drake states that:

'....the first will be found at the top of the world and it will crack the world'

What the first is, is unclear but in relation to the first he goes on to state that:

'...the first with be controlled by the hand of man.'

Whether this is a reference to the event being man-made or being a result of the action of mankind is uncertain, often this is read as a reference to the melting of the poplar icecaps but this is open tp interpretation.

In Drake's timeline one year after this 2000 event The One and The Hollow Daughter will 'come into being' these two will have fundmental roles in the apocalypse narrative.

The One is referred to throughout Drakes narrative, being the focus of many of the events and appears to be the central and messianic figure throughout the narrative. The Hollow Daughter's role is less defined other then towards the end she will be sacrificed, for what reasons and by who is yet to be discovered.

Our current understanding of Drakes timeline is that the majority of events take place during the year 2015, when the 'Angels' begin to visit Earth in an attempt to locate 'The First' which will be protected by the 'soul, mind and body'. This may refer to separate groups, people or ideologies which fall into some kind of internal conflict.

What happens during this 'Angel' visitations is not made explicit it has so far only been hinted at through Drakes cryptic statements. These statements often reference arcane Judeo-Christian mysticism, such as the 'Tree of Life' and 'the Chamber of Gof', and of course 'The Beast'. Though within the narrative 'The Beast' seems to take on a more ambiguous role then its name would imply as it is the proctector of 'The One' it also throws some doubt on the nature of the apocalypse.

There are still so many answers to be answered, why did the 'Angels' attempt to communicate with Walter Drake, was it some form of future echo picked up accidentally by Drake? What are the roles of the characters involved? Can they be identified?
